How did you get the name, The Atudes? After search­ing for parts of the ear that would sound neat as a band name (let’s keep it edu­ca­tional here), Bran­den started sift­ing through music terms. The word “etude” came up, which is lit­er­ally “study” in French. The musi­cal def­i­n­i­tion taken from princeton.edu is “a short com­po­si­tion for a solo instru­ment; intended as an exer­cise or to demon­strate tech­ni­cal virtuosity”.

How do you say, “atudes”? The pro­nun­ci­a­tion of etude is “ay-tude”. To avoid con­fu­sion on the pro­nun­ci­a­tion of the word, the “e” was changed to an “a” (which is also a slight ref­er­ence to that OTHER band who changed the spelling of their name). How­ever, when first intro­duced to the band, some still say “uh-tudes” and some­times even “attitudes”.

What does your music sound like? Our music has been com­pared count­less times to that of The Bea­t­les, Beach Boys, Motown, among oth­ers from that time period. Each song gives the lis­tener some­thing fresh to hear. Many of our songs con­tain drums, bass, gui­tar, and keys, along with rich vocal har­monies. Most of the songs are upbeat pop rock, how­ever, there are songs that could eas­ily fit into: folk rock, soul, 50’s bal­lad, 70’s rock, etc.

Do you play wed­dings and other pri­vate events? If yes, how much do you charge? We have played many events in the past includ­ing shows for: Well­mark BCBS, Dam to Dam, ONE Orga­ni­za­tion, Habi­tat for Human­ity, and Red Cross.
